Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

The God of Destruction, awakened from a long sleep by his servant Whis. While reviewing the current state of the universe, he is shocked to learn that Frieza was defeated by a Saiyan named Goku. [a] He remembers that thirty-nine years earlier, Oracle Fish predicted that a mighty opponent could be seen before Beerus summoned a Super Saiyan God. Intrigued by the potential challenge, Beerus then seeks Goku to King Kai’s planet. Goku passionately challenges Beerus to a fight and despite having reached Super Saiyan 3, Goku is easily defeated. Disappointed, Beerus sets out to find the other Saiyans.

On Earth, Bulma’s birthday party is interrupted by Beerus’ arrival. Vegeta, understanding the power of the god of destruction, puts aside his pride to appease him, who, along with Whis, instantly develops a desire to understand Earth’s cuisine. While the party is in progress, Pilaf’s Gang try (and fail) to infiltrate the party to steal the enchanted Dragon Balls, and accidentally shoot Videl when it causes a scene. As Dende heals him, he learns that Videl is carrying Gohan’s child. As the celebration continues, Beerus is immediately provoked by Buu who refuses to share any pudding.

Beerus Attacks Buu

Reported from saiyanyourself.com that Beerus attacks Buu and decides to destroy Earth when Android 18, Tien Shinhan, Piccolo, and Gohan try to fight Beerus but are all defeated quickly. Vegeta reluctantly tries to fight Beerus as does Goten and Trunks, who team up to become Gotenks, but they both lose. Bulma becomes irritated due to the battle that ruined her party and scolds Beerus before about to slap him. When Beerus hit him in the back, Vegeta, who was already in his “Super Saiyan 2” form, went completely mad and despite being the best in fighting Beerus out of anyone so far, was still defeated. As Beerus prepares to rid the planet, Goku visits and wants Beerus more fit to learn about Super Saiyan God.

Using the Dragon Balls, he summons Shenron and the immortal dragons to reveal that they need the abilities of six pure-hearted Saiyans for not one of them to reach the form. Thanks to the ability of himself, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Videl’s unborn child to channel their powers together, Goku rises to the level of a Super Saiyan God. He faced Beerus and they engaged in a fierce battle. The form gives Goku the ability to fight Beerus, but he reverts to his regular Super Saiyan form due to his time limit. However, he gains a godlike feeling which allows him to retain more than one skill in his fight against Beerus who then decides to use a massive power attack to really test Goku.

It is the 21st Dragon Ball feature film overall, the fourth film to be produced with Toriyama’s direct involvement, and also the second film to carry the Dragon Ball Super branding, and the first film to be co-produced using 3D animation.

The film follows Piccolo and his former student Gohan as they embark on a mission to save the world from the newly reformed Red Ribbon Army.
